Paul Martin
Paul J. Martin
CEO

Paul Martin was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland and started his career in 1971 as a business analyst with Dun and Bradstreet (D&B).
Paul was transferred to Vancouver in 1975 to start a sales career with D&B. In early 1977 he accepted a posting to a new job, “Director, Computer Based Services”, which introduced him to the technology field. Paul acquired a franchise of Data Terminal Mart (DTM Systems Corporation) for Vancouver in 1986. From 1986 to 2008 the business grew from 6 employees and $2.0 million in sales to 45 employees and $30 million in sales.

DTM Systems Corp has established itself as an industry leader in systems integration for the BC market and has been recognized by customers and suppliers for its expertise and high standards:

  • Telus (BC Tel) Vendor Quality Excellence Award
  • Dominion Information Services - Vendor Quality Recognition
  • Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Nominee

Paul has been active in community and civic activities since moving to Vancouver. As a member of the Rotary Club of Vancouver he has served as a director since 1994 and is past president of the 200-member club. Other activities past and present:

Paul was educated in St. John’s at Memorial University and later enrolled in the Business Management Program at UBC (1975-1977). In 1997 Paul attended the European Institute of Business Administration (INSEAD), Fontainbleu, France, sponsored by Hewlett Packard (1997). Paul enjoys a fun round of golf in his spare time or a drive in Classic American Car from his collection.


Ted Smith

Ted Smith
Vice President, Sales & Marketing

Ted Smith was born in New Westminster and raised in Victoria, BC. Ted graduated with two sets of Diplomas from Camosun College in Victoria, 1982 Electronic Engineering Technologist, 1984 Business Administration, Marketing Specialization. Ted continues his education taking annual Business Management Studies at UBC.
Ted moved to Vancouver to begin his sales career with DTM Systems in 1986, and as with most people in the technology industry left a year later to join CDI (Computer Distribution Inc.) of North Vancouver, BC. He returned to DTM Systems in May of 1988 taking the Technical Services lead until 1996.
In 1997 Ted turned his attentions to sales on a full time basis. As the Director of Sales he worked closely with Paul Martin to help position the company for growth and success through the later half of the 1990’s, establishing vendor relationships and identifying new technologies to focus on and invest in.
Ted was promoted to Vice President in 2004 and continues to manage the Sales and Marketing resources at DTM. He is responsible for all vendor relationships, which includes all existing relationships and evaluating new technologies and programs that may compliment DTM’s current road map. Ted is a member of the Board of Trade and has been involved with the VentureTech Network since 2003 serving as the Western Chapter President in 2005. Ted’s passion for sports drives his competitive spirit. He was a member of the Victoria Athletics Fast Ball club which won the Canadian National Fast Ball Championships in 1985. Ted also enjoys golf, squash, soccer and hockey.

Gary Gunderson
Gary Gunderson
Vice President, IT Consulting & Services

Gary Gunderson oversees all technical design, systems integration and managed services at DTM Systems. He is responsible for the strategic direction and development of DTM's team of highly skilled and specialized Systems Consultants as well as the management of network and enterprise solution services. As an Information Technology professional for over 24 years, he has earned/gained extensive knowledge in executive leadership, project management, and solution design. His technical and management experience spans a variety of areas in the IT industry including VAR, ISV and IT Distribution. Gary is a HP Certified Advanced Technical Professional and is a graduate of McMaster University, Ontario.

Don McNulty
Don McNulty, CGA
Vice President, Finance & Business Solutions

Don McNulty has built the Business Solutions practice at DTM over the last 10 years, providing clients with a high level of satisfaction and functionality in the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics GP. Donprovides financial system analysis, implementation, support and maintenance for clients using Dynamics GP systems. He works with clients to analyze their accounting and reporting requirements to determine the best possible solutions. He specializes in converting and integrating both legacy and current data to provide these solutions in general accounting, distribution, manufacturing and job cost environments. Don has done analysis of accounting procedures and systems for the integration of legacy systems, regulations, andworkflow into accounting software systems. He has worked in the field since 1988 and brings with him a broad knowledge of multi currency and accounting systems. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce, is a Certified General Accountant and is a certified Dynamics GP Implementation and Accounting specialist.
